Documentary Film Screening: Vianey

Kota Nest is excited to host a documentary screening of Vianey (2016) together with the Finland Center Foundation.

For the past ten years, Marko Vuorinen has been returning to New York and the US. It was here that he made the transition from photographer to filmmaker. Since then he has filmed three documentaries, two of which are situated in New York: Tamara W. (2014) and Vianey (2016). The latter, which will be screened in this event, was filmed during Vuorinen’s last residency with the FCINY. He is not looking to tell stories of victims but of people with large spectrums to their lives and wants to document not only why a woman has become marginalized in society but how that person has processed it and their future direction.

Vuorinen will join for a Q&A session on Zoom after the screening. Refreshments will be served.

More about the film here.

The event is free of charge but donations are encouraged. Join us for the screening at 7PM at the Kota Nest!
