Senior Smarts Workshops: Smart Phones 101

  • Kota Alliance 43 Saint Nicholas Place New York, NY, 10031 United States (map)

Our "smart phones" are so much more than just phones - which can be both good and bad. If you are feeling overwhelmed by the technology offered at your finger tips, then come join any (or all!) of our classes and learn how to be smarter than your smart phone.

Classes are free, but space is limited! RSVP Here. Open to all Women, especially Seniors and those who care for and about the Seniors in their lives: home health aids, caregivers, and adult children with aging parents. Bring your own smart phone (or Chrome book) and leave each class with a better understanding of how to get the most out of today's technology.

  • Class 1: Sat, Sept 17 | Back to Basics. Learn the ins and outs of your own smart phone - settings, navigation, terminology, storage, security, camera, voice mail, and more!

  • Class 2: Sat, Sept 24 | Clean Up Your Email. Declutter that in-box! Learn how to unsubscribe & block spam, create trusted contacts, access attachments, and organize your email.

  • Class 3: Sat, Oct 1 | Health & Wellness Apps. Manage your medical records, connect with doctors, calendar appointments, add family tracking, and find fun & healthy activity apps!

  • Class 4: Sat, Oct 8 | There Are Too Many Apps! Clean up your smart phone. Learn the top apps to keep - and which to dump - and find out how to organize your smart phone apps in the order that best works for you.

Many thanks to Next 50 Initiative for funding these series of classes and to Exquisite Tech Services for their expertise in conducting the classes.

COVID Policy: Please bring proof of current vaccination to each class. Open windows and fans will be used to keep fresh air circulating during class.

Accessibility: The Kota Alliance is located in a historically designated building, and as such, the building has not (yet!) been updated to be fully handicap accessible. Classes will be conducted on the second floor, up one flight of stairs.

Transportation: Kota is located near the 145th St Station, on the A/B/C/D lines. Limited street parking is (sometimes) available, and the nearest paid parking garage is at 457 W 150th St, a 4 minute walk from Kota.
